Choral Chant of Peace for the World,
Against All War
Against All War
Yajña and Mahā-mantra at Govardhan – May 4, 2025
by Marco Ferrini (Matsya Avatar das)
On May 4, 2025, I had the gift of sharing with many of you – both in person and online – an intense and deeply transformative experience: the Choral Chant of Peace for the World, Against All War held at Govardhan, the Department of Educational Agriculture inspired by Ayurveda at the Centro Studi Bhaktivedanta.
Together, we celebrated a yajña and chanted the Mahā-mantra in unison, in an atmosphere charged with sacredness, with our hearts turned toward healing the planet and pacifying the collective consciousness.
The energy that emanated from that shared offering confirmed, once again, how devotional singing and sacred rituals can touch the deepest chords of the soul and open up new horizons, both individual and social.
A Necessary Reflection: Why Speak of Peace Today?
We live in a time marked by multiple forms of war: military, cultural, environmental, and psychological.
Yet, precisely for this reason, peace can no longer be just a slogan. It must become a conscious and spiritual choice, rooted in an integral vision of the human being and the cosmos.
During the talk I shared with you, I wanted to emphasize a point I consider crucial: the deep connection between nihilism and conflict. Where God is excluded, the sense of the sacred in life, in others, and in nature is also lost. And where everything is reduced to calculation and power, war becomes “normal.”
The Vaishnava Vision: Peace as Spiritual Consciousness
The Bhagavad-gītā (15.7) reminds us that every being is ātmā, a divine spark. This truth dissolves all ideologies of separation and hostility. When internalized, it transforms our vision of the world: there are no enemies, only sister souls on the same path.
Similarly, Ahimsa—nonviolence—is not mere abstention from evil, but action inspired by Divine Love, protection of the living, and guardianship of the Earth.
Chanting as Spiritual Medicine
Chanting the Mahā-mantra together in a sacred setting, immersed in nature and supported by a conscious community, is an act of healing. Healing of the mind, the heart, and relationships. Every vibrating sound is a seed of peace sown in the collective consciousness.
As we read together the verse Bhagavad-gītā V.29:
bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ sarva-loka-maheśvaram
suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ jñātvā māṁ śāntim ṛcchati
«A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.»
The experience we shared at Govardhan on May 4 was collective, profound, and luminous. — yet each of us lived it in a unique way. For this reason, I wholeheartedly invite you to write and share — even just a few lines — about how you experienced this moment, what inspired you, and what has stayed with you, so that together we may continue to cultivate a culture of peace, service, and spiritual awareness.
With gratitude and hope,Marco Ferrini
